Banh Xeo
Our tour guide for the day was kind to suggest to us that this food in particular — Banh Xeo — are Vietnamese Traditional Pancakes popular among the locals. Savory and wrapped with different fillings, this food is a mark of speciality in Southern Vietnam.
What is?
Muoi Xiem on the other hand is named after the founder's name and how she went into cooking since 12 years old to support her family.
In 2007 she was awrded to showcase her culinary skills at the "Folks Life Festival in Smithsonian" in Washington D.C, US and was made famous since then.
We were excited to try these local food!!
Which, we would otherwise have missed if not for the advice by locals.
On the menu are the details written in English.
Gorgeous sunny
Here's the gorgeous sunny sunny pancakes!!
We had the Assorted Mushrooms and Green Bean, Bean Sprouts with Seafood versions.
They were panfried and so were a tad oily. Mushrooms werer better as they were more moist. The ones with the bean sprouts were drier and had seafood such as prawns, squids etc.
Accompanied with the lectuce and other veggies on the table it can be eaten together to minimize the oiliness.
Overall, it was a good experience to taste one of the authentic local food in HCM.
There should be other famous eateries selling Banh Xeo too just that this was perhaps nearest to us,
Try Banh Xeo if you have the chance to!
Some of the many awards won by them.
WOW.
