Brownstone Park (Portland Brownstone Quarries)

Portland Brownstone Quarries is a set of historic mines in Portland, Connecticut. The recognizable mined from these mines is an important source for development in the second half of the 19th century. Stone from the mine is used in a number of landmark buildings in Chicago, Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, DC, New Haven, Connecticut, and Hartford, Connecticut. This site is listed as a National Historic Landmark, which was also placed on the National Register of Historic Places.Mining now has been leased for development of recreation center and is currently being operated by Brownstone Exploration & Discovery Park.Over the years the park has gradually expanded interesting to include scuba diving, climbing and rappelling, swimming, snorkeling, canoeing and kayaking, hiking, mountain biking, wake boarding, cliff jumping, giant inflatable toys, and challenge course for team building groups. Almost all tourist activities can be done currently available except for the camp - which is currently being built.Scuba diving is becoming a popular recreational use of the park, with divers coming from all over Connecticut and even some from out of state. You who like diving can satisfy the desires of your diving in this place. Since this place is very beautiful and amazing.

waterslide
