[HONG KONG TRAVEL 5] EATS, PLAY 2016: SUN KEE CHEESE NOODLES 新記餐廳 (Tsim Sha Tsui 尖沙咀) ; HO HUNG KEE CONGEE & NOODLES何洪記 and BAKED CHEESE TARTS

Sun Kee Cheese Noodles 新記

For 41HKD this bowl is a tad on the high side considering what you are ingesting.
However, from the photos we spotted on Instagram Sun Kee Cheese noodles look seriously tempt-licious and drool-able.
Happily, no regrets!

Using Instant Noodles公仔 , you will find your favorite mee coasted with creamy thick cheese sauce accompanied with yummy pork cutlets. Yummy as it can be, things turn a bit cloying as we ate on. Nonetheless because it was so yummy we managed to finish up! Huge bowls of satisfaction.
We ordered a set which came with drinks to go with.
The gooey, consistent cheese sauce coated well on every stands of noodles and glides on smooth. The sauce is the science of cheese mixed with milk together~ Thumbs Up!
Instant noodles absorbs cheese sauce rapidly,  thus enhancing fragrance and essence of the flavor.
Our version was with the Grilled Pork Neck- Tender, chewy and well marinated, the grilled pork was tender with rims of fats and makes for a chewy bite.
And yes, we should have shared right?

But no, looked too tempting that we just wanna each have a bowl.

The other famous version is the Sotong/ squid cheesy balls. Too bad I only knew about this much later and hence we missed that out. Try them out!
From the reviews I read, the balls are springy and chewy with bursts of cheese flowing out.

Find The Store
That was, well, a bit of a hunt. The store unlike most, is not located along the streets with a visible shop front or name. Instead, it’s well-hidden in the first level of Champagne Court.
Just "be brave" and enter the building.
Walked around level 1 and right nearing the end , as the sign was too hidden, look out for a white shop front and there you are!!
Spot the standing signage by the door which says [新记 ] and windows plastered with many photos of celebrities.

When we reach in the afternoon we were shocked by the emptiness and wondered if they are in operation. It seemed as if they had just began operation for the evening crowd? Thank god

It’s a hearty filling bowl of instant noodles 公仔 for sure and we can see why this store is so famous and patronized by so many celebrities over the years.

Ho Hung Kee Congee and Noodle 何洪記
 ( 1 star Michelin)
This posh Chinese Cantonese restaurant spots some really luxe interior decorations. For a 1 star Michelin and its location within the shopping mall of Hysan Place, the pricing are mid-range and affordable if you want to have some nice Cantonese cuisine.
Ho Hung Kee had started as a road-side stall and gained many locals' recognition for their old- Hong Kong flavored wanton mee.

If you are lucky enough to be seated in those huge green cushioned "cabins", it's really awesome and comfy.

Wanton Mee
Ho Hung Kee is famed for its wanton mee and so this is exactly what we had.
We were too full from all the makan and had ordered each a small bowl but it was really good! The eggy thin noodles were springy and soaks up the essence of the sweet broth. Wanton was wrapped with prawns, pork and shrimp roes.
They have many other items on the menu and it would be great if we had more stomachs, which we don't unfortunately.

A great place to enjoy Cantonese cuisine, well liked by locals and tourists.
Recommended!!

Bake Cheese Tart
Before BCT arrived onto Singapore's shore in May this year, many Singaporeans  we all loved to head to BCT's Hongkong outlet to store up or to buy back dozens of tarts as gifts.
It was the first time I had their house's cheese tarts and it was warm, crispy and strong cheese love altogether.

There was no queue at their Sogo outlet and the tarts were warm and leaves us wanting for more.
We can understand why foodies all love their cheese tarts.

If you still have the space to stomach the tarts, or happen to be in Hongkong and want to avoid the crazy queue that's still ongoing in Singapore now, here's the address ~
