new england has the best beaches!
there are lighthouses and whale watching
sandy dunes and giant granite boulders covered in moss
sea kayaking & lobster traps galore
I don't think that anyone can argue with me when I say
that new england has the best beaches
here are a few of our favorite highlights from our time in Cape Ann: Gloucester, especially a few of the amazing beaches
EASTERN POINT LIGHTHOUSE
The best way to begin a new england day trip is with a lighthouse visit and this one is a favorite of ours. We love the breakwater here, which is surrounded by buoys and lobster traps on either side. If you wait long enough, you can even see the fishermen coming in to collect their catch.
even though cape ann feels worlds away, the boston skyline is right across the harbor
GOOD HARBOR BEACH
Our motivation for visiting Gloucester had everything to do with its amazing beaches, especially since they're dog friendly.
PJ really loves the beach
WINGAERSHEEK BEACH
While Good Harbor Beach seems to be the local favorite, we much prefer Wingaersheek Beach. At low tide, there are tons of tidal pools, which are ideal for clamming. Instead of a beach, it feels like a cove. And the granite boulders are amazing to climb on because they offer the best views of Annesquim Lighthouse right across the bay.
Also had to include this hilarious epic photo fail.
We set up the tripod camera to take a family photo with the lighthouse in the background. Great in theory, but coordinating PJ and the timer was not working. Instead, we captured a ton of photos of us chasing after the dog.
Another amazing day trip down for the books. And between Gloucester and Rockport, Cape Ann is becoming one our favorite places.
