Blogmas Day 7
Today I'm linking up with some wonderful ladies to share in all the details from this first December weekend. For us, it was a relaxing one, but it was still filled with lots of holiday preparation. Let's jump into things shall we?
{Friday}
Made it to the post office just in time to get our Christmas cards sent off, plus a few gifts went into the mail too.
Arrived home to find some lovely packages outside our door. My in-laws had sent a few evergreens to help us enjoy the holiday season. They are beyond thoughtful and we are so looking forward to spending Christmas day with them this year.
Also, I finished up a quick DIY project for displaying all of our holiday cards. We love how it turned out and found the perfect spot for it...hanging above our table.
Oh, and the table centerpiece was one the evergreens sent by my in-laws. Love how it looks with our little reindeer salt and pepper shakers!
{Saturday}
Saturday was a lazy day.
We were up late Friday and intended to sleep in. Only, we were stirred out of bed by an overzealous deliveryman and some obnoxious buzzing. Normally, they just leave the package, but not this one. I mean really, who the heck delivers packages at 8AM on a Saturday? If you can't tell, I'm still a little bit cranky and crabby about the whole thing. I really value my sleep and we were groggy the whole day. The only productive thing that happened was getting the pup out to the dog park for a much needed romp. We counted 23 doggie-friends and even more humans so I think he had a good chance to socialize and get his energy out.
I had grand plans for dinner that night, but we ended up phoning it in by ordering a white hawaiian pizza.
Best Decision Ever!
{Sunday}
I've started making a special breakfast on Sundays, so these festive cranberry-orange muffins were a must.

I absolutely adore baking and the holidays give me an extra excuse to whip up plenty of goodies in the kitchen. No complaints here.

After cutting down our Christmas tree a week ago, we finally got around to
decorating it. This was definitely the highlight of our weekend.

decorating it. This was definitely the highlight of our weekend.
Our hands got covered in sap while stringing lights, which would be a pain if it didn't smell so darn good. We ate chocolate chip cookies, drank a few beers, and played Christmas music, including this favorite song of mine that Husband inexplicably hates!
I love pulling out our ornaments because they are a true reflection of ourselves. Like how this teapot ornament and matching saucer {of course} reflect my love of all things tea party.
Plus, we have lots of ornaments to commemorate past travels and experiences…
like this wine bottle from our time air ballooning and wine tasting in Napa
last summer or this Lion King ornament we picked up at our first broadway show for our one year anniversary.
But the ornament glittering the most was this one from last year's present when we spent Christmas at the Biltmore
We definitely don't have a perfectly coordinated tree, but I love it just the same because all of our ornaments bring up such fond memories. Decorating our tree gave us a chance to reminisce about everything we've experienced together and that truly is a wonderful thing.
And you may have noticed that we don't have a tree topper. Well that's completely purposeful…We could easily grab one at Target, but we are entirely too sentimental when it comes to our Christmas tree. We want our tree topper to be unique and to hold just as much significance as our ornaments do. We will find the perfect tree topper one day and I'm sure that it will have a lovely little adventure to go along with it.
