Christmas Tree Farm

Blogmas Day 3

We are so looking forward to our New England Christmas and taking complete advantage of it in every way. One of the benefits of living in such a cold environment is that there's no shortage of pine trees. This past weekend, we visited one of the many tree farms here and I cut down my very first Christmas tree {with Husband's help of course} Now the scent of its needles are filling up the apartment and it truly feels like Christmas!

We spent quite a bit of time hunting for our Christmas tree…weighing out the pros and cons of each tree, inspecting the needles, surveying the shape. You've never seen two people more serious about finding the perfect tree. 

We finally settled on this one! Ironically, it wasn't the most perfect tree we found. its even got a bare patch in the middle, but for some reason we kept coming back to this one again and again. We had to make it ours!   

I had every intention of letting Husband take the lead on this one. I mean really, he's a natural. 

but Tom didn't let me get away that easily and I did my fair share of the work in cutting this tree down. Let me tell you, it was quite the workout, 

T-I-M-B-E-R!

Love that we managed to capture the moment the tree finally gave way! 

The tree farm worked out so that all tree sizes were the same price. We decided that we may as well make the best of this and get the biggest tree we could fit into our space. Actually this tree didn't end up fitting in our apartment very well. And how we made it work is a pretty funny story, but we will save that for a later date.

 Anyway, we were so focused on getting a BIG tree that we weren't thinking about what happened after we cut the tree down…like how we had to carry it up a hill and then another 1/2 mile to get it wrapped.

After our we secured our tree to the roof rack, we had time to explore a bit, which mostly involved watching reindeer frolic and filling the appetite we had worked up. 

That night, we drove home with sore muscles, bellies full of cocoa + cookies, and hands made sticky by tree sap. This was the perfect holiday date. 

And now we have more time to look forward to spending together...cannot wait to decorate our tree this weekend!
