It's easy to rent a motor while you travel to a big city, a famous tourist city in Vietnam. But sometimes, in some place it's hard to rent a motor bike (you can't find motorbike rental services).
There are some tips for you to rent a motor bike while you travel to Vietnam.
1. Motorbike rental service:
It's easy to rent a motor bike at a motorbike rental service.
In Vietnam, the motor bike rental price is about 20.000dong/hour (not include gas/petrol).
2. Hotel:
Motor bike rental is one of some hotels services in Vietnam.
If you stay in their hotel, it's easy for you to rent a motor bike.
If your hotel haven't motor bike rental service, you can ask hotel receptionist to rent/hire her/his motor bike.
This is a good way if you travel to some place where you can't find any motorbike rental service.
Someone don't trust you (they think you are a bad guy so i must talk to them - always agree on a price before you rent their motorbike.)

Some tips while you rent a motor bike:
. Wear helmets while you ride motor bike (the motor bike rental price include helmet rental fee).
. You should give your ID card, or your passport to motor bike rental service owner before you rent.
. Always agree on a price before you rent motorbike.
. Check your motor bike before riding (brake, ...).
. Ride to the nearest gas station.
. Save motor bike owner cellphone / mobile phone number in your cellphone. Sometimes you need their helps.
How about licenses:
Vietnamese driving licenses are mandatory for all drivers of motor vehicles as well as for riders of motorcycles with a capacity of over 50cc. Non-Vietnamese citizens are only permitted to drive in Vietnam if they hold a temporary Vietnamese driver's license.
To convert your Driving License or an International Driving Permit into a temporary Vietnamese driver's license, the applicant must first hold a valid Vietnamese residence permit of at least three month's validity and a valid International Driving Permit.
In Hanoi, applications for temporary driver's licenses should be directed to the Office of Traffic & Public Works, 16 Cao Ba Quat Street .
In Ho Chi Minh City, applications should be directed to the Office of Transportation, 63 Ly Tu Trong Street, District 1 - Telephone 3822 3760 .
A Vietnam driving licenses
In provincial areas, travellers should consult local police authorities to determine exactly what action is required to obtain a temporary driving license in the province where the applicant resides.
Most medical insurance companies will not cover you for accidents etc on a motorbike WITHOUT a valid license for the country you are in. As Vietnam does not treat international licenses as valid, unless you have a VN license your medical insurance company will be able to void the insurance.
If you do not hold a valid license, your vehicle will be kept in custody for max. 90 days by the traffic police.
