Vietnamese Water Puppet Show in Saigon

Water puppetry (Vietnamese: Múa rối nước, lit. "puppets that dance on water") is a tradition that dates back as far as the 11th century CE when it originated in the villages of the Red River Delta area of northern Vietnam. Today's Vietnamese water puppetry is a unique variation on the ancient Asian puppet tradition.

When you travel to Ha Noi, you can see water puppet show in Thang Long Water Puppet Theater (57b Dinh Tien Hoang Str., Hanoi ). But when you travel to Sai gon where to see Water puppet show?

There are three places where you can see "puppets that dance on water" in Sai gon:

1. The Golden Dragon Water Puppetry Theatre (HCM City Labour Cultural House)

Inside of Tao Dan Park
The show is every day on 6.30 pm and 8.30pm.
The ticket cost about 65,000 VND (4 USD) per person. There is a discount if you comes in group
Duration: 50 minutes.

From Pham Ngu Lao Area, you can walk to or take a taxi to this place. The taxi cost is about 20.000 - 30.000dong.

2. History Museum
2 Nguyen Binh Khiem, Ben Ghe Ward, Dist1, HCMC (next to the zoo and botannical gardens.)

There is also a water puppet theatre but will only performed if more than 5 persons have bought tickets.

3. Thao Dien Village
Weekly one show is held from 19:30 to 20:00 every Saturday at Ngon restaurant Thao Dien Village (Vietnamese Food)
